I recently ordered a Rudraksha mala online. The mala is used and very old. The fact that it had been used appealed to me. This website (the Dharma Shop) mainly deals in Tibetan goods. When I looked online on how to care for my Rudraksha mala I could only find Hindu sites that state that a Rudraksha mala should NEVER be traded sold or given away and must be sanctified before using. Sheesh if I had known all this I wouldn't have ordered it. What is your take on this. Is there any difference because it will be used as a Buddhist mala. It also stated that it has to be "activated" with a particular mantra. Would appreciate some feedback. Haven't received it yet...it should be here in a couple of days. Thanks....

Sorry, no idea what a Rudraksha mala is supposed to be... Anyway, never good to try and mix Hindu and Buddhist ritual, they may appear similar, but often are quite different in purpose and meaning.
