```This is those "layers" that keep me operating so far from reality.```
As for me, I find it fascinating how through practice we discover one layer after the other.
I had a particularly strong `layer experience` in the last months, for the first time seeing how negativity comes up when a person who triggers it comes into my visual field so to speak. I saw the negative thought sneak in within milliseconds, automatically and without being based on any real facts. A karmic imprint manifesting. Fascinating.
About worrying about financial security: These basic survival instincts are so deeply rooted and such a big part of what we call `ego` that I do not deal with it yet.
Tamara Tamara, I think this is a critically important accomplishment which shows a tremendous focus on your mental processes. It is getting extremely close to the source, which is the inherently existent I. [adding later] There is a moment prior to the milliseconds that the "I" triggers the negative association which becomes thought. I think this is really the next focus (at least for me) after I develop the sensitivity you describe. This is really the "holy grail" of practice- to see how the inherently existent I triggers the negativity. I'm very happy for you!
12 links of dependent origination:
no.6 - Contact: meeting of sense organ with sense object (perception)
no. 7 - Feeling: labeling pos., neg. or neutral
no. 8 - Thist, `craving`: impulse for action
no. 9 - Grasping: action
According to some (most ?) sources no.7 is a karmic result, choiceless so to speak. Means we have to work on karmic imprints. So the negativity cannot be changed, just noticed and not acted upon.
To work on no. 8 is easier, I suppose. Am more fascinated by no.7 and the fact that negativity is much easier to notice than labeling `positive`. The result of a survival instinct, I suppose, to ward of what is seen as causing trouble.
Jeff, you say `inherently existing I`. There is no such thing, I assumed ?
Sorry for my brief writing style. Cannot do otherwise at the moment.
Jeff, you say `inherently existing I`. There is no such thing, I assumed ? Tamara Yes, you're right. What I was saying is the "I" that appears to be inherently existence or the "erroneous" I. The object to be negated. So it is this mistaken "I" that generates the negativity. Therefore being able to see this negativity in the moment it arises is wonderful but the next step is to see how it links to the mistaken "I". Jeff
The question is: Do we believe what comes up on the `mental screen` and act on it or do we watch it with interest and then act accordingly to what we (again partly wrongly)understand is `Bodhicitta`. What appears on the screen changes in a very long process of practice only, so for the time being we deal with what pleasant/unpleasant comes up. (I see Rudy sitting somewhere shaking his head in this belief about his `forum kids`` clumsy attempts to articulate and formulate Rudy, is there a Kalachakra event in Mongolia this August ? ) Tamara
Hi Tamara, I must admit that I lost exactly what the discussion is about. Regarding the Kalachakra in Mongolia, this is really weird to say the least. It looks like a scam to me. The Kalachakra page in English is an exact copy of the text of our IKN website, no idea what it does here. On the schedule of His Holiness there is no mention of it, the links on the website lead to pretty strange pages. Unless there is a very incapable webmaster at work, this looks like a primitive attempt to steal donations... I hope I'm wrong...
Rudy, so perhaps there is no Kalachakra in Mongolia, let`s wait and see.
I got this news from friends in Germany who want to attend it and then I saw the strange websites too.
Let`s wat and see.
