As someone who has had connections with the NKT for many many years I felt very sad to see that the information about the NKT in your Controversial 'Buddhist' Teachers & Groups is clearly grossly misrepresented. It has made me be very cautious about the other information you have given about other Buddhist organisations. I think the saying on this page "If you believe everything you read, better not read. " (Japanese proverb) is appropriate and very well placed here.

Thank you Judy.
Basically, what I try to do on the Controversial page is to simply list teachers and organisations of which controversy, abuse or other forms of strong criticism has been reported.
As an organisation, the NKT has for example consistently organised strong protests against His Holiness the Dalai Lama, whom the vast majority of the world considers a very well respected spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism. Just this mere point makes the NKT itself controversial.
I do not wish to go too much further into the NKT controversy itself; I know more then enough examples of gross disregard to Buddhist principles by this organisation, and more then enough is available on the internet if you are really interested. In my view, only members of the NKT appear to have the view that the organisation is misrepresented because they do not want to take the criticisms seriously.
I would like to emphasise though, that I personally believe that the vast majority of the members of the NKT are serious, honest and genuine in their trying to practice Buddhism. But they are being manipulated into fanaticism about a tiny little specific practice that has been under discussion in the general Tibetan religious community since it's inception, and from this fanaticism much harm arises.
For people who are in a cult (as I would categorise the NKT), it is very difficult to be objective about their cult,a nd they tend to believe only everything they hear fromn within their cult, and prefer to disregard everything else.
Love & clear light, Rudy

Hello Rudy, just looked at your website after many weeks and it is great to see you posting It is 11 years now that I started posting on this forum and it helped me a lot in my humble Buddhism-beginnings. By now I theoretically understood what Buddha wanted to say. It took me years. What one has to do now is meditate, meditate, meditate or, better, non-meditate as thy say at some point. My son went to the Netherlands last fall and studies in Maastricht (we`ve chosen it because of study in English language, there`s not much of it in Europe.) Wishing you the best with all your work Tamara

Hi Tamara, good to hear from you. As the forum is so quiet these days, I only check it out very sporadically. Your son studying in in Holland? It's a small world! Why not in England then?

England is a bit tricky when it comes to university study.
My son is EU-citizen but to be eligible for EU-citizen fees in England he should have lived in a EU-country for the last 3 years and that was not the case.
So he would have to pay the very high international student fees in England.
The Netherlands accept a student according to the passport data and academic prerequisites and not according to where he lived during high school.
Anyway, he was accepted to the Netherlands univ. before Brexit happened and I feel that this is a very good choice now with the insecurity reg. Brexit.

thank-you for your web found while browsing. i am also in a crisis about who to trust & appreciate this. i started meditation 1981 in cape town south africa & traveled just a little . i like Milarepa meditation a lot . but over the years i have been badly hurt or worse by several groups so wonder how things will work out for me in the future .i can not go into a group of Samye Dzong Akong Rinpoche & their cape town branch or scotland & they still stalking preying on me & my weight & other items . so i am not allowed there only certain types & rich people, almost really murderers , but now these new members are very rich so they making more money . i am not gifted etc. then - Diamond Way cape town not ok & Shambala cape town not ok - use blood libel & make you feel please leave. & New Kadampa Cape town & lately even the Chamtrul Rinpoche seem highly unsafe. but here i am not a stereotype dharma person & am only 1 or 2 like me , but nevertheless we struggle. seems all dharma & yoga allow their favorites to kill this seems the new cult which was not like this in 1981 at all.
i think that Dhagpo Kagyu Ling centers & Bodhi Path in france italy usa worldwide- are quite nice & i hope to move & live with some of these later . but i also know there will be a few small problems . & there is a lot of nazi & similar buddhism in europe. but at 21 yrs old i really fell in love with the Milarepa but now i am 58 & realise evn he is not on my side & would not support me or protect me so i am highly traumatised . because everything i do is fromMilarepa & other horrible students stole it all from me & i am very sick now & no lama protects 1 student & i was informed that the dharma centers will never protect me & they do house a lot of bad bullies & they fully allow endorse this. !!!!!! so i am still looking for some hlep . i feel that animals & horses are the best guides & St Francis of Paola , \& Assisi - but all these franciscan saints hermits are great online but all not perfect for the animals. i also had a fight with kopan monastery . anyway since becoming a meditator i nearly got killed many times & locked away by mistake & seems it is getting worse & all they should have dome is told my type an alternative . some actually want to excommunicate me. & being a tibetan solo in southa frica with everyone at war with me & china & africa problems is cruel to me & 2-faced of them all .

Dear Suzanne, Very sorry to hear about your problems, although I do not really uderstand what your problems exactly are with all these groups & centers. 3 of the groups you mention are also in my list of controversial organisations, but it seems you encounter problems in every organisation. My first reaction in that case that you may need to have a good look at yourself and your own behavior, and not simply blame everyone else... Are you accusing them of stalking, preying & killing?
I do not quite know what you mean with "there is a lot of nazi & similar buddhism in europe."
As the Buddha taught, no place in the universe is perfect; everything has the nature of samsara and ultimately suffering. So if you are looking for the perfect Buddhist center, I fear you are looking for something that does not exist, but there exist many nice Buddhist centers in Europe.
